Why Visit Myanmar

Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is one of South East Asia’s largest and most diverse country. Isolated and ostracised by the international community, the country is in the grip of tyrants. To this day Myanmar remains one of the most mysterious and undiscovered destinations in the world.

Most of the population live in three great river valleys encircled by impenetrable horseshoes of mountains. River life dominates the country and still to this day forms the main system of transportation, irrigation and from its rich fishing grounds the principal protein source for the majority of the population.

In the great Chindwin, Irrawaddy and Salween valleys two millennia of Buddhist art, architecture and archaeology survive, including of course the 3000 standing monuments at Pagan. There is no other Asian country with so vast and varied a range of cultural sites. Almost everywhere there are temples and monasteries, festivals and ceremonies. The Burmese are a deeply pious people and Buddhist activities dominate every aspect of life.

Myanmar is a paradise to discover, a destination for discerning travellers to explore and experience the mystical charms of the East in all its diversity – rich archaeological sites, glittering pagodas, a wealth of cultures, colourful festivals and arts. Myanmar is also blessed with an awe-inspiring range of natural sights – idyllic land- scape, lush fertile plains, vast virgin jungles, majestic snowcapped mountains, pristine beaches washed by crystal clear waters, fragrant pine trees and sunflowers bathed in abundant sunshine.

But most of all, perfectly complemented by a most gracious and hospitable people. You will certainly enjoy Myanmar…look back in awe, knowing that you must surely return.
